Darcie and Greg arrived to Cloister In The Woods of beautiful Munster, Indiana riding a Hammond Firetruck, with horns a’ blazing. The couple exchanged vows at Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church, attached to the venue and hurried on over to start the reception off the right way, with cocktails, dancing, good conversation and of course, a photobooth.
Darcie and Greg were welcomed into Cloister with a grand entrance, preceded by the wedding party who did funny dances and shuffles all the way to the head table. The hall was dotted with sparkling hanging lights around the windows and accents of red and black everywhere to match the fireman theme of the wedding.
The cake was a multi-level white fondant design with a swash of red fondant fabric that lead to a cake topper of a fireman sweeping a lady off her feet with a kiss. The side of the cake had a little ladder leading to the top and the cake cutter was a mini fireman’s ax. The couple cut the cake and playfully smashed the slices into each others face. Dinner was a fine feast of chicken and prime rib with vegetables, cake, coffee and wine. A DJ kept the dance floor hot, hot, hot late into the night, where Darcie and Greg did their bouquet toss and garter removal, and what a spectacle it was!
When it was Greg’s turn he had a special surprise strip dance for Darcie. He entered the dance floor wearing his Fireman’s outfit and turning it into a disco inferno to the sounds of “Fire” by The Ohio Players. The crowd and Darcie laughed heartily when he pulled out a pair of underwear instead of a garter marked with the word Wednesday on it. The fun didn’t stop on the dance floor though, as all night long a photobooth captured sparks flying and memories being created.
The custom designed strip features Darcie and Greg’s names on a burning background with double fireman axes and a fireman helmet. Guests got three color photos and wore a variety of props, like red and black boas, fireman hats, giant glasses and the ever popular chicken and hot dog hats. Guests took a strip home and left one for the couple in a silver basket for their memory book at home. Darcie and Greg slipped in with friends and family all night long, and Greg made sure to wear a chicken hat at the end of the night for the customary Chicken dance!
