New students of all ages and cultures “flocked” to the Purdue University Calumet Student Convocation in Hammond, Indiana to learn about majors, departments, and clubs as well as mingle with other students, eat, dance, and enjoy a photobooth.
Special guest speakers and a balloon launch started the convocation. Students were able to walk around to different informational booths, learn about majors, organizations, and clubs on campus. Many students also received Purdue Calumet swag, like water bottles and phone holders. Devil dogs, nachos, and other yummy treats were handed out, as students danced while being entertained by the DJ.
Two caricature artists created likenesses of students, leading to smiles all around. PepsiCo stopped by with free beverages to fuel the “student body”, giving away Muscle Milk and Rockstar Energy Drinks to thirsty attendees. The Purdue Calumet Peregrine flew by the photobooth to get a few snaps taken.
Students popped in and out of the booth, getting a souvenir photo strip featuring three color photos and a Peregrine design with Purdue Calumet’s name.
Funny chicken masks and hats, glasses with mustaches, wigs and sparkly top hats were the talk of the campus, as students bolted in and out all afternoon capturing memories by themselves and with new friends.
